NEW MASHUP -“All Along The Watchmen” - Jimi Hendrix vs Watchmen Soundtrack

Happy Hallow’een everybody!

Tonight’s the night where it’s OK to put on a mask, bang on your neighbours’ doors and demand stuff… if you’re a kid (obviously, I hope).

So it’s fitting that my latest mashup features the newest pop cultural phenom’ all about putting on masks - Watchmen.

I’m a fan of the original graphic novel, and I’m lovin’ the new HBO series so far - and one of the great things about it is the soundtrack from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, they of Nine Inch Nails fame.

So taking one of the two pieces of soundtrack released so far, I’ve paired it with Jimi Hendrix’s version of “All Along the Watchtower”, a song that featured in the original graphic novel; Chapter 10 is called “Two Riders Were Approaching”, quoting the lyrics.

And before you ask “Why didn’t you use the original Bob Dylan recording?”, the simple answer is the Hendrix version is in the same key as the soundtrack, the Dylan version is not and would’ve required pitch-shifting, which doesn’t sound great.

Anyway - here’s the track, which in my humble opinion does sound great!
