NEW MASHUP - “HOZIMMER” - Take Me To Church vs Interstellar
We’re back in Hans Zimmer / Christopher Nolan country for this mashup, following “Old TIME Road”.
That erstwhile mashup got me thinking about what other epic Hans Zimmer pieces could be used to make some fun mashups. The track “Mountains” is my favourite on the Interstellar soundtrack, and which builds to a massive finale with booming organs and choirs, conjuring an almost religious experience.
So, what better to mash it with than Hozier’s “Take Me To Church”; another track that conjures religious imagery to tell it’s story.
This mashup was a lot trickier than I originally thought it was going to be; so much so that I left it for almost 2 months before coming back to finish it. Firstly, the Interstellar track starts out ridiculously quiet, before building to be ridiculously loud. Also, the tempo increases by 50% between the beginning and the end, which was a pain for beat matching with the Hozier track.
On top of that, the time signature in Take Me To Church changes periodically between 3/4 and 4/4 time, another obstacle for beat matching.
So it took a while, but I think it was worth the effort. Have a listen:
